The Baviaans Growth Initiative (BGI) is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting the Baviaanskloof community through sustainable programs that promote education, personal development, and essential support services. Our three primary programs, namely the Baviaans Growth Centre, Baviaans Learning Centre, and Baviaanskloof United Sports Club, aim to address the social challenges arising from poverty, unemployment, and the remoteness of the area.
Established as a community-driven effort, our mission at BGI is to empower the people of Baviaanskloof by providing high-quality education and access to vital resources. Our deep-rooted connection to the community as residents and neighbors allows us to create meaningful and lasting change in the lives of those we serve.
As a community-driven organization, BGI relies on the support and collaboration of local residents, partners, and donors. Together, we can build a brighter and more sustainable future for the Baviaanskloof community.

Zanne Reyneke
Co-Founder, Educator
Recognizing the importance of education in shaping the future of our community, Zanne plays an instrumental role in the Baviaans Learning Centre. Her commitment to fostering a culture of learning and personal development ensures that students are well-equipped with the tools they need to succeed in school and beyond.
As a qualified teacher, she brings her expertise and dedication to the Baviaanskloof community, creating meaningful change in the lives of the local youth.
Melloson Allen
Co-Founder, Administration Director
Having lived in the Baviaanskloof for over a decade, Mell has a unique connection to the community, sharing in many of their struggles, she has invaluable insights into exactly what the community needs in order to thrive. She is motivated to create a better future for her own children.
Mell runs our support centre (BSC), helping community members with administrative support and hosting skills training classes, playing an integral role in supporting our community and acting as a helping hand to all who walk through the doorway to her office.
Andy Bezuidenhout
Co-Founder, Marketing Director
Moving to the Baviaanskloof after visiting since childhood, Andy got to see first-hand how the perception of a place when you're just a visitor can be drastically different from the real situation. Already passionate about the kloof for decades before settling here, he came to learn of the struggles that the people of the kloof face.
Andy takes care of all of our marketing. This website and everything that you see online is done by him. He is also responsible for sharing our mission with the world and spreading the word as far as possible.

In order to make a lasting impact, we need to make sure that we have a steady and consistent stream of income allocated to our projects. Making sure that our community has access to exactly what they need when they need it is the key to a brighter future for all, and that can only be made possible by the support and generosity of our donors and sponsors.
100% of the funds that we receive are used for the running of our organization and our initiatives, and every amount donated, big or small, plays an integral role in the success of our projects.
We are always in need of equipment and supplies for our projects. From school supplies such as books, stationary, desks and clothing for our students, to equipment that will benefit the community as a whole, like laptops, power tools and vehicles, we would love to here what you may have to offer, despite the logistical nightmare of living as remotely as we do.
