We do it for the people, for the future.

On average, 45% of South Africa's youth will drop out of school before reaching matric.

The state of education across South Africa tells a story of a bleak future for the youth of today. With almost half of the population entering adulthood without proper education, many will be left at a significant disadvantage.

In an area as rural and remote as the Baviaanskloof, instilling motivation and a passion for learning in the minds of the youth has its own set of challenges.

Limited Opportunities

For decades, the vast majority of opportunities for employment in the Baviaanskloof have been manual labor on farms and in guesthouses, with other forms of employment being severely limited and seasonal, placing education further down the list of priorities.

Poor Nutrition

Stuck in the grips of poverty, with many households relying on government grants and the small salaries of the employed, it can be difficult to maintain a balanced diet, leading to trouble focusing for a full day of school.

Lack of team-building and sport

Without sport, the youth are deprived of skills essential to success later in life. Learning how to work as a team and instilling a sense of team spirit amongst the community, as well as an outlet to "blow off steam" through physical activity, will lead to a more positive outlook for the future.

Our Mission

We've started a grassroots movement for change in the Baviaanskloof.

Serving our community since 2022.

Our mission is to empower the Baviaanskloof community through high-quality after school education and access to essential services. We have a unique connection to the community, being residents and neighbors, that allows us to make a meaningful and lasting impact. While we've already accomplished a great deal, we're driven to create a long-term transformation that benefits the community for years to come. Our team is dedicated and passionate about serving all who call the Baviaanskloof home.

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.

Nelson Mandela

We have started 3 powerful initiatives tailored to make a lasting impact.

Educating minds and enriching lives.

Prioritizing education is the key to a brighter future.

At the start of 2022, we opened the doors to the Baviaanskloof Learning Centre (BLC) located at the heritage centre on Kamerkloof farm. The BLC is an initiative aimed at supplementing the education that the students receive from the local government school.

After-school Classes

We host after-school classes every weekday, tutoring students of all ages in areas where they have fallen behind the most.

Nurturing Creativity

The majority of our lessons encourage our students to be creative, allowing them to express themselves and instilling the idea that every individual is unique in the way that they think.

ECD Centre

To prepare the youngest in our community for the years of school that lay ahead, we aim to set up an ECD centre, giving them a headstart and creating a passion for learning from a young age.

Lending a hand to the community.

Not only changing individual lives, but investing in the future of the community as a whole.

With the help of environmental NPO, Living Lands, and the Sewefontein community farm, we have been able to set up the Baviaanskloof Support Centre (BSC), an initiative aimed at assiting all members of the community with administrative support and skills development.

Administrative Support

We supplement the ambition of the members of our community by giving them the tools and help needed to start their own businesses, create compelling CV's and proposals, we also act as a "middle-man" for essential services.

Skills Training

The Baviaanskloof is a decade or more behind the rest of the word in terms of technology, with computer literacy being near non-existent for many. We host training classes focused around building a solid technological understanding for those who need it.

Connectivity Hotspot

The BGC also acts as a "connectivity" hotspot for the community. Providing free Wi-Fi and telephone calls in an area where there is otherwise minimal phone reception, making it easier for them to make contact with the outside world.

Empowering youth and building champions.

Providing an outlet to build physical and mental strength, encouraging teamwork, discipline and resilience.

The amount of passion that both the adults and youth of the Baviaanskloof have for sport and the culture that goes with it, doesnt match with what is currently available.

We are in the process of creating the Baviaanskloof United Sports Club (BUSC), an initiative where we will be focusing predominantly on youth sports development, but our fields and equipment will be available to people of all ages.

A little help goes a long way.

In order to make a lasting impact, we need to make sure that we have a steady and consistent stream of income allocated to our projects. Making sure that our community has access to exactly what they need when they need it is the key to a brighter future for all, and that can only be made possible by the support and generosity of our donors and sponsors.

100% of the funds that we receive are used for the running of our organization and our initiatives, and every amount donated, big or small, plays an integral role in the success of our projects.

Your "trash" could be our treasure.

We are always in need of equipment and supplies for our projects. From school supplies such as books, stationery, desks, and clothing for our students, to equipment that will benefit the community as a whole, like laptops, power tools, and vehicles, We would love to hear what you may have to offer, despite the logistical nightmare of living as remotely as we do.
